9.0 Final Adjustments.

A KSM Oxygen Control monitors the screw feeding time in all its steps so as to ensure the best possible
combustion. However, in order to obtain the optimum performance, a number of settings made at the
factory should be checked and, if necessary, adjusted.

Seeing that the control itself can only to a certain extent adjust the volume of fuel fed by the stoker screw,
it is necessary to set a basic adjustment for each fuel type to be used with the specific heating plant.

At the KSM factory, settings have been made for the period of time that the screw will run in each step,
followed by the control adjusting the fuel volume by increasing or decreasing the pause between the
feedings.

The pause (P2) between the feedings, being the parameter for the control adapting the fuel volume, is
adjustable from 10 sec. and up to 50 sec.
The best running time for the screw will therefore be the one where the control operates with a pause (P2)
of around 25 sec, as this will allow for the control to adjust the 25 sec +/-  x sec.

As a check of the setting, you may set the parameter VP2 (display P2) to the value 1 and thus have the
actual pause time shown in the display. Also see item 6.15 in the section Menus and Their Adjustments.

For you as the enduser, the typical final adjustment proceedings would be to write down the values shown
in the display during some days and then make adjustments, if any, regarding the screw running time.

The below example states a number of data registered from the display, followed by an explanation of the
data.

These data may have been written down over a period, the more lines you have the easier it is to do an
optimum final adjustment.

Example 1.
The pause times lie very much below 25 sec, and the oxygen lies high.

Conclusion:  The screw feeds too little fuel into the burner, and the adjustment will therefore reduce the
pause (P2) and thus result in an increased fuel feeding.
The critical point is, however, that at Step 1 the adjustment is set at the bottom mark i.e. right down at
10 sec. between the feedings so that a lower setting is no longer possible. By increasing the screw feeding
time, the control will increase the pause so that we get closer to the ideal time of 25 sec.
