6.5 The line system
Harmful line drag can be fully minimised with the Green b with the help of the new 3
tiers of lines LTF A/EN A.
It has three stem line tiers and four mid and top lines. The C and D top lines have been
threaded together. The Green b has high-quality Cousin Trestec Dyneema lines.
These high-tech lines are able to fulfil the demanding requirements of a glider line in a
unique way. The exceptional stability provided when stretched guarantees that even after
long use the line lengths still have their original qualities. Therefore dangerous changes
to flying performance due to varying strains are avoided. At the same the toughest test
requirements were met in terms of resistance to bending.
The A, B and C line groups lead separately to the corresponding riser. A separate hand
grip is possible without any complications e.g. on the B level (see Fast Descent chapter).
The wing tip is suspended from the B-tier. In order to be able to easily and quickly collapse
the ears, the outermost A line is suspended separately from the split Baby A Riser (see the
Riser Diagram). Both A risers are fitted with a magnet that attract each other during ground
handling and makes things much clearer and less confusing. In flight the straps separate
silently from one another on their own.
The lines in each group always have specific colours running right from the riser to the
canopy. This makes sorting and orientating much easier when descending or carrying out
emergency manoeuvres! The B risers are labelled with a B-Stall label and the A risers with
a Big-Ear label. This makes it much easier to locate the straps safely and quickly when
descending rapidly.
