Checking the setup
This section provides an overview of the setup procedure that is required for each net-
work printing method.
Peer-to-peer printing

Connect the network cable. (Refer to “Connecting to a local area network
(LAN)” on page 1-12.)

From the machine’s control panel, specify the IP address, subnet mask and de-
fault gateway. (Refer to “Specifying an IP address” on page 3-9.)

Print the settings information, and then check the settings. (Refer to “Printing
the settings information” on page 3-13.)

Install the printer driver. The Peer-to-Peer Utility is installed when the printer
driver is installed.
– For details on installing the PCL driver, refer to “Installing the printer driv-
er by using the AutoRun Installation” on page 2-15.
– If the GDI driver is to be installed, refer to the User’s Guide for the GDI
printer controller, included with this machine.

Add the network port to the computer. (Refer to “Connecting the computer and
this machine over a network” on page 3-15.)

Reminder
When installing the printer driver on an operating system other than Windows
Me, the Peer-to-Peer Utility is not installed.
