AutoIP (APIPA (automatic private IP addressing)) is a function for automatically
assigning to the network interface card an IP address beginning with 169.254 and sub-
net mask 255.255.0.0. If a network device on the same network has been assigned an
IP address and subnet mask with the AutoIP function, those network devices can
communicate with each other.
