c) Filters cannot be washed, blown out or restored. When exhausted they must be disposed
of.
d) The respirator is to be serviced at least once a year by KASCO or a service centre
authorised by KASCO.
7
CAUTION
7.1 Do not use the respirator in the conditions listed at point 4.1.
Do not use it for any reason if the air flow check has not been carried out (see point
For powered respirators with blower units not built into the helmets, fit the filters directly
onto the blower unit and not on the helmet.
7.2 Do not expose the battery to heat sources of over 55°C.
Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
Do not place the battery on/near equipment which vibrates excessively.
In case of battery leakage wash all parts which have come into contact with leaked liquid
immediately.
Do not expose battery to infrared or ultraviolet rays excessively.
Do not pierce, crush, disassemble or open the battery as leaked liquid could catch fire,
explode or release dangerous substances.
Keep the battery charger connected to the battery only if the charger is powered.
Battery charging must be carried out at a temperature between 0°C and 40°C.
7.3 Do not use expired filters even if their seals are still intact.
7.4 Return to clean fresh air immediately and take OFF the helmet if:
a) Leakage is detected by smell, taste or eye, nose or throat irritation.
b) Inhaled air becomes extremely hot.
c) Any feeling of nausea, dizziness or ill being develops.
7.5 THE RESPIRATOR WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY LEVEL OF RESPIRATORY
PROTECTION UNLESS BLOWER UNITS WHICH DRAW IN AIR THROUGH THE
FILTER/S ARE FUNCTIONING. OXYGEN WOULD BE ABSORBED RAPIDLY AND THE
CARBON DIOXYDE CONCENTRATION PRODUCED BY BREATHING WOULD EXCEED
THE TLV LIMITS.
7.6 Never alter or modify this respirator in any way.
7.7 The air flow indicator must be used to check the airflow only; it is not suitable to check
the battery capacity and/or the battery running time. The airflow indicator gives correct
readings when it is used in an upright position and any reading given at a position differing
+/- 15° from the upright position is not to be considered realistic.
7.8 Replace the helmet if damaged (cracks, bumps etc.) as this could cause inward
leakage.
7.9 This equipment is to be used only by qualified personnel who has been trained on the
use and maintenance of RPD (Respiratory Protective Devices) and who is aware of their
technical and legal limits.
7.10 Do not use the respirator if your sense of smell is in any way impaired.
7.11 Do not use the respirator if it has not been serviced annually by a maintenance
centre authorised by KASCO.
7.12 In order to provide adequate protection, this helmet must fit or be adapted to the size
of the user's head.
7.13 The helmet is made in such a way as to absorb the energy of a blow by partial
destruction or damage to the shell and harness and, while such damage may not be
immediately apparent, any helmet subjected to severe impact should be replaced.
7.14
The user’s attention is also drawn to the danger of modifying or removing any original
component of the helmet which has not been recommended by KASCO. Helmets must not
be adapted for the purpose of fitting accessories which have not been recommended by
KASCO in any way.
7.15 Do not apply paints, solvents, adhesives or self-adhesive labels, unless in
accordance with the instructions provided by KASCO.
7.16 Materials coming into contact with the user's skin may cause allergic reactions in
sensitive individuals.
7.17 Eye protectors against high speed particles worn over ophthalmic spectacles may
transmit impacts, thereby constituting a danger for the wearer.
7.18 If protection against high speed particles at extreme temperatures is required, the
chosen eye protector should be marked with the letter T immediately following the impact
letter, i.e. FT, BT or AT. If this is not the case, the chosen eye protector should only be used
against high speed particles at room temperature.
7.19 It is recommended to replace the visor in the presence of scratches or damage. To
replace the visor, order the following spare parts:
SKU 1903041 - KAIO / KAIOS flat flip-up visor
SKU 0809052 - KAIO / KAIOS visor hook kit (only if damaged)
8
REPAIRS
8.1
Use KASCO original spares only.
8.2 For technical assistance on KASCO respirators, the following information is required:
Respirator model - Serial number - Retailer - Type of inconvenience detected - Type and
concentration of the pollutant - Type of filter used - Frequency of use - Include a diagram of
the type of work if you deem it useful.

MARKINGS
The CE mark certifies compliance with the essential health and safety
requirements in Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2016/425. The number 0426
after the CE mark identifies the Notified Body ITALCERT control institute of
the finished product in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/425

TRANSPORT
The powered respirator is to be kept in its original packaging to avoid damage during
transport.
11
STORAGE
Store powered respirators and filters in their original packaging at a temperature between
0°C and +40°C and a humidity lower than 80%.
12
WARNING
12.1 BEFORE USE CHECK THAT PRODUCT CODE NUMBERS, TYPE AND QUANTITY
OF SUB ASSEMBLIES CORRESPOND TO THOSE LISTED ON THE RESPIRATOR
COMPOSITION CHART.
12.2 KASCO retains any type of warranty forfeited on the instant and declines any liability
either direct or indirect should our Use and Maintenance instructions not be adhered to and
should filters and spares other than genuine KASCO filters and spare be used.
12.3 The liability for the proper operation of the respirator is irrevocably transferred to the
respirator purchaser or user if:
- the prescribed maintenance is not carried out and/or repairs and maintenance are carried
out by personnel not belonging to KASCO or to a service centre authorized by KASCO.
- the respirator is used in a manner not conforming to its intended use as specified in the
relative product certification/approval.
12.4 IMPORTANT: Adhere strictly to the instructions and limitations pertaining to this
equipment. OTHERWISE, THE RESPIRATOR EFFECTIVENESS WILL DIMINISH AND
THE WEARER’S PROTECTION WILL BE REDUCED.
12.5 Equipment operating time. The operating time is greatly influenced by the filter
conditions and other factors. The operating time specified in table 2.3 assumes use with
clean filters and fully charged batteries. Different conditions may produce operating time
reductions.
The PPE, subject of these use instructions, has been CE certified as a Cat 3 PPE as per Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and successive modifications by ITALCERT, Viale Sarca, 336 - 20126 MILAN,
Notified Body 0426. The CE marking means the respect of the essential Health and Safety requirements contained in Annexe II of the Regulation (EU) 2016/425. The number 0426 following the CE
mark identifies ITALCERT, the Notified Body responsible for Quality Assurance Control according to the Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
