Right after you install the program on a server (see chapter 2) you must
integrate it with one of the mail systems listed above and define its settings
(see subchapter 7.6).
The Keeper program interacts with the daemon process and performs the
following functions on a server:
•
The program parses the entire incoming and outgoing SMTP
traffic and transfers it to the daemon process that subsequently
checks it for viruses and disinfects it.
•
If a virus is detected in a message body or its attachments, the
daemon process returns the corresponding code to Keeper that,
depending on the returned value, may perform the following
operations:
•
For the message recipient:
°
notify the recipient about the infected message
detected (see subchapter 7.6.2.4.1);
°
block the message from being delivered to the
recipient mailbox (see subchapter 7.6.2.4.2);
°
pass the infected (see subchapter 7.6.2.4.4) or
disinfected (see subchapter 7.6.2.4.3) message to
the recipient mailbox.
•
For the administrator — notify the administrator about
the infected message detected and delivers the
message to the administrator mailbox (see
subchapter 7.6.2.6).
•
For the message sender — notify the sender about the
infected message delivered from his(her) mailbox (see
subchapter 7.6.2.7).
•
The program logs the performance report to the predefined file
(see subchapter 7.6.4).
Its is strongly unadvisable to perform integration of Kaspersky Anti-
Virus for Sun Solaris Mail Server with your mail system (one of the
above listed) via Keeper while the system is up and running. It may
have undesirable consequences.
