17. Repeat steps 12 to 16 three to four times. If the liquid level in the absorber does not go down,
the crystals have melted.
18. Let the solution pump operate independently for about 30 minutes. Constantly observe the
liquid level in the absorber while the solution pump operates.
19. After about 30 minutes, stop the solution pump.
20. Press the Refrigerant Pump
Auto
button.
21. Return the valve cap. There is an O-ring between the cap and valve. When fitting the cap, make
sure that the O-ring is set normally.
Precautions for decrystallization
• Cycle the chilled or hot and cooling water pumps off and on during the melting process.
• Remove any sensors that are sensitive to heat before you start the melting operation. The
temperature of the chilled or hot and cooling water that remains in the absorption chiller-heater
can rise to about 158°F (70°C).
• When you start the chiller-heater after melting the crystals, discharge the chilled/hot water and
cooling water first. If that water is left in the machine, the paint on the inside walls can be peeled
off.
Maintenance items
Maintenance and inspection items along with standard inspection periods are shown in the next
table. For details, contact your local Johnson Controls Service Center.
Inspection frequency can be adjusted according to the actual operating conditions.

)
and check the data with the data collected during
the factory test.

Check of liquid level
See Table 46. Check the liquid level at each part.

Refining of refrigerant
refrigerant.
Every 2-3 weeks
S
Manual purging from
purging tank
. Manually purge non-
condensable gas from the purging tank.
As the machine has an
automatic purge system,
perform the purge one time at
the beginning of the seasons
every year.
S
Manual purging from
absorber
. Manually purge non-
condensable gas from the absorber by additional
service vacuum pump.
Every 2-3 months
S
Appearance check
Check the outside of the unit for damage (for
example leakage for chilled/hot water and cooling
water, rusting, or other obvious damage). Check
the solution pump and refrigerant pump for
abnormal sounds and vibration.
