IN CASE OF ACCIDENTAL GEL SPILLAGE
Technical solutions
Two types of solutions have been designed. The first is a safety tank and is
provided in the J2S Agrigento totems. The spilled gel is collected in a safety
container with a capacity of 6 L. The second solution is a controlled system
of excess gel spillage outside the totem through a silicone tube and a spacer
stud insert fixed by pressure in the safety tank
(8.2.A.)
. This option is applied to
J2S Venice, Rome and Florence totems.
The following figures 1a. and 1b. show the two technical solutions implemented.
1a. Safety tank
1b. Controlled gel
gel spillage system
Rules to avoid improper use
The safety tank must not contain any objects other than the gel dispenser
tank.
Do not place a safety tank with a capacity greater than 5 L in the J2S
Agrigento.
In the J2S Venice, Rome and Florence it is compulsory to use only the tanks
provided.
Safety equipment
Appropriate protective equipment must be worn for safe cleaning and
maintenance.
Maintenance of the controlled gel spillage system (1b.)
Regular maintenance of the silicone tube is recommended to ensure correct
positioning and integrity. Check the tube periodically (every 2 months) to verify
its efficiency, i.e. that there are no leaks or encrustations. In case of cleaning or
replacement, it is necessary to loosen the mechanism for fixing the tube to the
spacer stud insert and then remove the tube.
Containment and clean-up procedures
For safe cleaning and maintenance in the event of a gel spill, it is mandatory
to turn off the power switch
(8.1.A.)
and unplug the power supply cable
(8.2.A.)
from the outlet.
Remove all sources of ignition (cigarettes, flames, sparks, etc.) or heat from the
leakage area.
Afterwards, vacuum the spilled product into a appropriate container and
absorb the residues with inert absorbent material.
Sufficient ventilation of the area where the leak occurred must be ensured.
For leaks and product spills that have not ignited, water spray can be used to
disperse flammable vapours and protect personnel involved in preventing the
leak.
