A faulty transducer can be detected by measuring its open capacitance. This procedure
helps also monitoring the long-term performance of the piezoelectric ceramic included
inside the transducer.
High voltage may exist at both leads of any piezoelectric transducer. It is recommended to
short circuit pins
K
and
M
of the SOURIAU 851 08 EC 14-12 P 50 44 mating plug to
discharge the capacitor of the transducer.
Capacitance meter (ISO-Tech DM9023 or Data Precision model 938 or equivalent) or
LCR Bridge.
Transducer should not be connected to the TT801 circuitry.
Step Action
1.
Discharge the capacitor of the transducer: Short circuit pins
K
and
M
of the SOURIAU
851 08 EC 14-12 P 50 44 mating plug mounted on the interconnect cable used between
the transducer and TT801 cabinet
2.
Connect the capacitance meter between pins K and M of the SOURIAU 851 08 EC 14-
12 P 50 44. A normal transducer (PET801P-30 or PET661S-TT) fitted with 30 m long
cable should measure
17.5 ± 2.5 nF
.
If Transducer is measured without any cable, the capacitance is 14.5 ± 2.0 nF

spare part
