9.8 Replacing the battery
Battery replacement must be performed only by authorized qualified personnel.
A not rechargeable lithium battery on the motherboard provides power for the
Real Time Clock (RTC) and CMOS Ram.
This battery has an estimate life expectancy of 20.000 hours (at 25
°
C).
Notice
When the battery loses power, BIOS Setup settings stored in CMOS
RAM are cleared and the time and date is wrong. In such condition it
could be required pressing the power button to switch power on.
The replacement battery must be a 3V 220mAh coin cell lithium type compatible
with the Maxell CR2032 battery (verify the exact type on the exhausted cell).
Replacing the battery:
•
Switch power off. Detach power cord. Open the back cover.
•
Remove the battery (keep a note of the plus “+” side).
•
Install the new battery with the plus “+” as the exhausted cell.
•
Install any removed boards and close the back cover.
•
You will need to set the system date and time and any settings different from
default.
Warning
Danger of explosion and harmful material emission if lithium battery is
incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type
recommended by the manufacturer. The battery module contains
lithium. Do not attempt to dispose of it in a fire or incinerator, do not
overheat up to 80°C, do not short-circuit, do not i nvert poles, do not
disassemble it: the battery may explode.
Don’t try to recharge the lithium battery, the battery may explode.
Don’t allow the battery to come in contact with water.
