GAIN TRIM
The Outputs menu features settings related to the outputs of IAP 8. The
figure above illustrates the Outputs menu and selection of its sub-menus.
1
1 Sub-menus are selected by using
Rotary (Turn)
.
Select (Rotary Push)
enters a sub-menu and
Menu
exits it.
The sub-menus are:
GAIN TRIM
FL
0.0 dB
For each output you can specify a gain trim value
in dB.
2
2 Output gain and delay trim are useful to calibrate
your sound system, compensating for different
loudspeaker distances from the central listening
position.
To calibrate the frequency responses of the outputs,
you can use parametric equalizers (Chapter 6).
When measuring your sound system, you can
reproduce sound over each output channel individually
in the Measurement sub-menu (Chapter 9).
IAP Calibration software greatly facilitates
measurement and calibration of your system
(Chapter 10).
DELAY TRIM
FL
0.0 ms / 0 cm / 0 in
For each output you can specify a delay trim value
in milliseconds.
2
SUB OVERHEAD
0.0 dB
When set to its default value, 0 dB, the subwoofer
XLR output signal has the same gain as the other
XLR outputs. Some loudspeaker systems use a
10 dB overhead, in which case the subwoofer XLR
output has 10 dB less gain than the other XLR
outputs.
3
3 A subwoofer overhead, e.g. 10 dB, makes clipping
before the D/A converter less likely, but requires
that the subwoofer has 10 dB more level than the main
loudspeakers. Choose 0 dB to disable overhead
(same gain on all XLR outputs).
LFE GAIN
0.0 dB
This sub-menu allows to adjust the gain of the low
frequency effects (LFE) channel from 5.1 or 7.1 input
sources. Off means that the LFE signal is silenced.
4
4 If you do not use a subwoofer, you may want to set
LFE gain to Off, such that the LFE channel is not mixed
into your main loudspeakers, putting less load on them.
The LFE channel is defined as optional in the 5.1
standard. Thus, not considering it, gives a complete
audio experience.
