Auto approach will not
run
An AFM chip must be installed, and a frequency sweep must be
performed before clicking on
Approach
.
If an AFM chip is installed, go to the Sweep page and click
Sweep
.
A smooth curve with an obvious peak should be shown.
If the top of the curve is cut off at the top, decrease the amplitude
and sweep again.
If the frequency sweep plot data is flat and noisy, tighten the thumb
nut on the AFM chip. If the problem persists, the AFM chip may be
damaged.
If the maximum value of the peak is less than 2V, click on
Show
Advanced
Controls
and increase the
Cantilever Drive
Amplitude
, then sweep again.
7.3.2.
Auto Approach Does Not Run
7.3.2.1.
Auto Approach Aborted Due to Low Signal
The error message “Auto Approach Aborted Due to Low Signal” is emitted if the drive amplitude
is not high enough.
Go to the
Sweep
page, click on
Show
Advanced
Controls
and increase the
Cantilever Drive
Amplitude
, then re-
Sweep
until the peak of the amplitude graph is between 2 and 3.3 V.
