Managing the Operational and Configuration Software

The IBM 2216 comes from the factory with its operational software loaded.
However, if the operational software needs an upgrade or replacement, you have to
reload it. Binary configuration files can be created using the Configuration
Program. These files can be uploaded to the IBM 2216 to reconfigure it.

IBM 2216 Software and Configuration Change Management

The IBM 2216 is capable of storing two copies of its operational software and four
copies of configuration information for each copy of the operational software.
Without interrupting the operation of the IBM 2216, you can store software or
configuration files in it. Changes to the configuration are activated in one of the
following ways: immediately, after a timed interval, or at the next restart.

Should the IBM 2216 fail when a new version of the operational software is
activated, one of the backup versions can be restored.

You use the command line interface for change management operations and TFTP
or Xmodem to transfer files.
