WIRE ROPE MAINTENANCE
If present, the wire rope shall be subjected to maintenance, inspected and assessed in accordance
with the user manual provided by the rope manufacturer. In the absence of instructions the rope
must be inspected and assessed by skilled personnel according to ISO 4309 and the current
regulations.
C.3 PLANNED
MAINTENANCE
The owner of the crane is responsible for contacting an authorised assistance centre to perform
planned maintenance on the crane and accessories with the following intervals:
SERVICE 10
: after the first 10 working hours
SERVICE 100
: after the first 100 working hours
SERVICE 500
: after the first 500 working hours
SERVICE 1000
: after the first 1000 working hours
SERVICE “n. hours”
: after "n. hours" working hours
The maintenance register in Annex E.17 lists the checks which must be carried out during planned
maintenance. The following legend explains the meaning of the symbols used in the annex.

Note: tool maintenance means maintenance of all lifting equipments installed on the crane according
to the own user manuals: winch (rope), grab, orange peel grab, grapple, etc.
C.4 EXTRAORDINARY
MAINTENANCE
Extraordinary maintenance means all maintenance not described as part of planned maintenance
(e.g. problems relating to crane, defects and accidents).
Extraordinary maintenance must be performed by an authorised assistance centre.
C.5 INACTIVITY
After long periods of inactivity (generally over 6 months) it’s necessary to provide an extraordinary
maintenance for the machine in an authorized assistance center.
If considered necessary, for any reason, to remove the crane from the vehicle, it is compulsory to
call an authorized assistance centre.
In this case it is recommended to close the crane in rest position, to take her in a sheltered place
and to protect the chrome plated parts with a film of lubricant.
