CONNECTING THE FEED SUPPORT TUBE TO THE ANTENNA DISH
PARTS NEEDED
• Feed support tube with feed assembly and attached
• Antenna reflector
• 5/16-18 wedge nut
• 5/16-18 hex bolt
• 5/16-inch flat washer
• 5/16-inch lock washer
TOOLS NEEDED
• Open-end wrench or socket wrench
Note: Be sure that the feed assembly and feed support tube are ori-
ented as shown in the illustration.
Note: If you are installing the antenna/cap mount assembly to a pole
mount, it is probably easiest to attach the feed support tube assembly
after you have installed the antenna on the mount. See “Installing the
antenna/cap assembly onto the mast” on page 26.. However, if you
are using a ladder, it may be easier to attach the feed support tube
assembly to the antenna before installing it on the mast.
1. Insert the 5/16-18 wedge nut into the antenna reflector thin
end first. The wedge nut is keyed so that it will fit properly
in its slot in the antenna in only one way. Make sure the hole
in the wedge nut is aligned with the hole in the reflector (see
Figure 34).
2. Install the feed support tube into the feed support socket on
the antenna reflector. Since you probably have the antenna
dish turned upside down in order to insert the feed support
tube, take care to remember that your orientation is cur-
rently the opposite of that shown in see Figure 34.
3. Secure the feed support tube with a 5/16-inch flat washer, 5/
16-inch lock washer, and 5/16-18 hex bolt. Use a torque
wrench to tighten the hex bolt 8 to 10 ft-lbs.
