Removing a PCI-X Hot Plug Expansion Board
The ProLiant DL580 Generation 2 server includes a PCI-X slot divider and ejector to
ensure slot safety and to facilitate expansion board removal.
To remove an expansion board from a PCI-X Hot Plug slot:
1.
Extend the server from the rack. Refer to “Extending the Server from the Rack”
in Chapter 5, “Installing Hardware Options.”
2.
Open the rear access panel. Refer to “Opening and Removing the Access Panels”
in Chapter 5, “Installing Hardware Options.”
3.
Identify the PCI-X Hot Plug expansion slot that you want to remove and the
PCI-X Hot Plug button that manages it.
CAUTION:
Do not attempt this hot-plug operation if the operating system does
not provide PCI-X Hot Plug support or if you do not have the appropriate device
drivers installed. Failure to properly execute a hot-plug operation can halt the
system.
4.
Press the port PCI-X Hot Plug button or use the PCI-X Hot Plug Utility to power
down the PCI-X Hot Plug slot. Be sure that the slot is powered down by
observing the flashing green LED until it turns off.
