3 Connecting and Powering Up the Core Cluster
Components
HP Cluster Platform cluster building blocks are connected, configured, and tested during the
manufacturing process. After technicians complete the final diagnostic process at the factory,
they disconnect the cables and package the cables separately from the cluster to prevent them
from being damaged during shipment. The cables are reconnected at the installation site.
This chapter provides an overview of the installation process for core components. It describes
how to connect the cluster's external network and power cables to the appropriate sources at the
customer site. It also describes the powering-up sequence.
The installation procedures assume that the cluster components (nodes, switches, and other
devices) are already installed in the racks and connected to a power strip within the rack when
they arrive at the customer site. The procedures also assume that the HP Cluster Platform software
is already installed on the cluster as described in the HP XC System Software Installation Guide.

This chapter discusses the following topics:
•
Cabling the TFT7600 (
Section 3.1
)
•
Connecting the KVM to the control node (
Section 3.2
)
•
SVA Console Management Setup (
Section 3.3
)
•
Connecting the MSA1000, MSA1500, or MSA2000 controller to the control node (
Section 3.4
)
•

)
The system interconnect cabling procedures are described in the documentation for the system
interconnects that are used in your model of HP Cluster Platform.
3.1 Cabling the TFT7600
The TFT7600 is connected to an eight-port console switch, or optionally connected directly to
the administrative (control) node, as shown in
