If you find nothing wrong, you will
need a qualified technician to find
the problem. See
on page
.
After you parked the vehicle for
an extended period or when the
outside temperature becomes very
high, water stays in the fuel
system and the engine will not
start. In this case, you should drain
the water from the fuel filter (see
page
).
Do you have fuel? Check the fuel
gauge; the low fuel indicator may
not be working.
There may be an electrical
problem, such as no power to the
fuel pump. Check all the fuses
(see page
).
In this case, the starter motor’s
speed sounds normal, or even faster
than normal, when you press the
ENGINE START button, but the
engine does not run.
Are you using the proper starting
procedure? Refer to
on page
on petrol
models with manual transmission,
page
on petrol models with
i-SHIFT, and page
on diesel
models.
Are you using a properly coded
key? An improperly coded key will
cause the immobilizer system
indicator in the instrument panel
to blink rapidly (see page
).
If the indicator is blinking, move
the shift lever out from neutral,
then return it again while pressing
on the brake pedal.
If your vehicle runs out of fuel,
priming the fuel system is
required to restart the engine (see
page
).
After you have stored your vehicle
for an extended period, air may
have entered the fuel system (see
on
page
).
If equipped, the fuel cutoff switch
may be activated. If the switch is
activated, it must be reset before
starting the engine (see page
).
