6.6 Automatic
cutting
The preparation procedure for automatic cutting is the same as for manual cutting. First start the
machine up and calibrate the sideways infeed, gripper, clamps and printer as described earlier in
this manual. Use the ‘Add’ button to add data files to the auto cut list. If you have added files you
must also assign them a status to inform the PCL of their location. When you are ready to begin,
press the ‘Automatic cutting’ button in the ‘Cutting’ section of the ‘Cutting’ window on the remote control
touch screen. The whole cutting sequence (and marking) will now proceed automatically. Once the parts
have been cut they will automatically be removed from the cell to the outfeed. The data file contains
information regarding the length of each individual part. Parts between 300 and 4000 mm will be pushed
from the outfeed slat belt to the unloading table. Longer parts will be transported to the outfeed conveyor and
the outfeed buffer chains will be raised lifting the finished parts from the conveyor and transporting them on
the buffer chains for unloading. Parts smaller than 300 mm will fall into the scrap trolley.
To interrupt or deactivate the automatic cutting process press ‘Hold’ or ‘Automatic cutting’ again.
The progress can be followed in the auto cut list. When a data file has been cut (and/or marked) it will have
the status ‘Finished’. It will not be removed from the list. If you wish to remove all data files that have already
been processed from the list, click on the ‘Removed Finished’ button under the list.
