Operation of the Actilino
Page 48
5.1.12.10.5 c(A)lculator
This option activates the ability of the Actilino to automatically start the calculator function
when it is switched on in work mode. We recommend using this option if you plan to use the
Actilino primarily for calculations in the near future.
5.1.12.11
(T)one signals
The Actilino generates a range of sounds in certain operational conditions in order to alert
the user unmistakably to successes, errors or critical situations. Depending on the user's
experience or the location in which the Actilino is being used (e.g. seminar room, commuter
train), these sounds may be inconvenient or even annoying. The Actilino therefore features
various levels of sound outputs.
The tone signal options are provided in the form of multiple checkboxes. These signal tone
settings apply only within work mode. In SAVE mode all signal tones are turned on.
The various levels listed below come into effect after the Actilino's startup sound has been
played. Any errors or warnings during startup are generally of a more serious nature and
will therefore always be indicated. These 4 checkboxes are activated by default.
5.1.12.11.1 (E)rrors
The Actilino generates a tone only if an error has occurred. In addition to internal errors,
errors can also result from operator mistakes, but these are usually not indicated by any
message in Braille.
5.1.12.11.2 (W)arnings
The Actilino generates a tone only in case of warnings.
5.1.12.11.3 action (C)onfirmations
The Actilino plays a sound signal if a complex action, such as opening a file in the Editor,
has been successful.
5.1.12.11.4 Battery warning
If the power supply of the battery reaches a critical value, the Actilino reminds you to save
your data in time and recharge your battery every minute. If the capacity of the battery is
known by the Actilino, the alert will be played when the estimated runtime is less than 30
minutes. Whether the battery capacity is known can be seen in the menu
(I)nfo
. If the battery
has been removed and put in again, the capacity can only be determined after a battery
calibration. During the calibration, the battery has to be discharged and then recharged
again in a long process.
If the capacity of the battery is unknown, the alert will be played if the voltage of the battery
is less than 3.4 V.
5.1.12.12
(D)ate and time format
Any settings specified here will affect the entire System, including the Editor. If you specify
the 12-hour format, the time will be displayed in the 12-hour format everywhere; otherwise
the 24-hour military time format will be used. Also, if English dates are specified, the
international convention for date (month first, then day) and time will be used.
