Wiring Precautions
To prevent the possibility of electric shock and damage to the instrument, please pay
attention to the precautions below.
Employ protective earth before connecting measurement cables. The power cord
that comes with the instrument is a three-pin power cord. Connect it to a properly
grounded three-pong outlet. Please cut off the power to the circuit and make sure
there is no voltage in it before touch a circuit.
Cut off the power to the circuit under measurement when wiring or disconnecting
the circuit. Connecting or removing measurement cables while the power is on is
dangerous.
Take special caution not to wire a current circuit to the voltage input terminal or a
voltage circuit to the current input terminal.
When strip the insulation cover of the measurement cables, make sure that the
conductive parts (bare wires) wired to the input terminal do not expose from the
terminal. In addition, tighten the screw of input terminal so that the cable does
not come loose.
Do not touch the input interface. When the measuring circuit is being applied to
the current input terminal, do not touch the current sensor input terminal.
Similarly, when the measuring circuit is being applied to the current sensor input
terminal, do not touch the current direct input terminal. Since these terminals are
electrically connected inside the instrument, the operation is very dangerous.
Withstand voltage of Potential Transformer and Current Transformer. When
using the external potential transformer (PT) or current transformer (CT), make
sure it has enough withstand voltage with respect to the voltage (U) being
measured. In addition, the secondary side of CT should not become an open
circuit while the power is on. If this happens, high voltage will appear at the
secondary side of CT, which is extremely dangerous.
For safety reasons, when mounting the instrument on a rack, a switch should be
furnished from the front side of the rack, which is used to cut off the circuit under
measurement.
Loop voltage and current. Ensure that the measurement circuit voltage and
current and common-mode voltage within the rated range of the instrument;
Connect external sensors. Do not use the bare metal BNC connector when
connecting external sensors. Remove all connections of the current direct input
terminals;
Current direct input. The connection of the sensor input terminal must be
disconnected;
Connect external shunts. The power supply of the measuring circuit must be cut
off. It is dangerous if not shut down the power or remove the shunt.
