Steering System SR-21
Too great
spare travel of
steering wheel
Worn pin and joint in steering
column universal joint and
damaged universal joint Check and replace the worn parts;
Loose universal joint sleeve Repair or replace the worn parts.
Looseness between the
steering gear support and the
vehicle frame or between the
steering gear and its support
Check, repair or replace the damaged parts and
tighten the assembling bolts to the required torque.
The ball pin seat and ball pin
of drag link or tie rod are worn
or have too large a gap. Replace the ball pin seat and the ball pin.
Difficult
resetting
of
steering wheel
Jammed ball hinge of tie rod or
drag link Check or replace the worn part.
Jammed kingpin of steering
knuckle Check or replace the damaged part.
Small kingpin caster of
steering knuckle Adjust the kingpin caster to the required value.
Jammed steering column Locate the cause and repair or replace the damaged
part.
Improper oil flowrate Check and correct the oil pump.
Deformed installation of
steering gear leads to restricted
piston movement
Adjust the steering gear installation by adding shims
to allow the piston move freely.
Instable steering
input Worn universal joint of
steering column Check and replace the universal joint.
Incorrect positioning of
universal joint
Readjust the positioning of steering column.
Low oil flowrate Tension the belt of the oil pump till it does not slip
at a low or idle speed operation, or repair the oil
pump.
Insufficient oil or air
absorption of oil pump.
Locate the cause, remove the fault, add sufficient
oil and discharge the air.
Overheat Locate and remove the cause.
Hydraulic
system
temperature too
high Restricted oil flow and large
energy consumption Check the oil return pressure and clear the
restriction or replace the oil pipe.
Flowrate of oil too high Check the max. flowrate, adjust the flowrate control
valve of oil pump or replace oil pump with a
suitable one.
Incorrect adjustment of the
unloading plunger lever of
travel limit Make a correct adjustment of the unloading plunger
lever.
Color or odor
change of oil Too long a usage period Change the oil as required.
Unsuitable oil or mixed use of
oil Change for a suitable oil.
Over high work temperature Locate the cause of overheating and remove it.
Water entry into the oil via the
venting system of oil tank. Change the oil and replace the cover set of oil tank.
