Structure and working principles of transmission shaft

Requirements on structure of transmission shaft
The transmission shaft is installed between the transmission and the rear axle and used to transmit
the engine power from the transmission to the rear axle.
Dynamic balance of rotating parts
Strict requirements are imposed on the dynamic balance of transmission shafts in a rotating mode in
order to ensure stable transmission of power. Otherwise, resonance will be easily caused to damage the
gearbox and main reducer of rear axle and even damage the whole bus. Each pair of transmission shaft
shall undergo a dynamic balance test before delivery and a balance block is affixed to corresponding
parts.
Slide fork to compensate for the changes of working length
The distance between the gearbox and rear axle will change with the unevenness of road surfaces
and the vibrations and load changes during traveling. In addition, the frame will also be distorted and
deformed during traveling. Therefore, a slide fork with spline shaft lining is adopted for the transmission
shaft to compensate for the axial displacement of the transmission shaft. A universal joint is adopted to
satisfy working requirements in case of angle changes.

Cross shaft universal coupling
In order to transmit power in a reliable and stable
manner during movements and ensure the rotation of both
connected shafts at the same speed, a cross shaft universal
coupling is adopted to satisfy the working requirements in
case of angle change. A rational layout can minimize the
influence of additional loads caused by angle of the universal
coupling.
In order to ensure the transmission of power flows at the
same angular speed, the transmission shafts shall be so installed as to ensure the same intersection angle
