Getting Started
2.4. Batteries
The computer is powered by twin batteries to support hot-swapping batteries, which
means the batteries can be replaced without the computer being turned off.
When the computer ships, these twin batteries aren't installed but stored separately to
keep in good condition for future use.
The batteries are both 14.8V / 1880mAh Li-ion batteries to be installed to the computer's
battery channels. Typically it takes about 4 hours to charge each battery to full. And two
fully charged batteries support the computer to work up to 6 hours. (However the actual
working time depend on the computer's working state.)
Take a look at the battery pack. Each battery pack comes with a lock bolt to hold itself in
the battery channel, and each comes with a few contact pins to tap power from charging.

2.4.1. Extend Battery Lifespan
If the computer is working in an environment where external power supply is available and
handy, it is suggested that you let the computer work merely on the external power without
batteries installed to maximize the lifespan of the batteries.
Save for the aforementioned, the computer's BIOS Setup utility presents the setting of
Battery Charge/Discharge Mode
to further extend battery lifespan by allowing users
to define the maximum battery level and the timing to recharge batteries. See
Battery
Charge/Discharge Mode
on page
88
for the setting.
2.4.2. Optimize Battery Life
Power is a critical issue for portable devices. Always turn off the features that aren't
used on the computer to save power. To extend the battery life as much as possible,
it is recommended that you turn down the LCD brightness, set a shorter LCD timeout,
or suspend the computer (i.e. enter the computer to
Sleep
) when the computer isn't
actively used.
