5.2.2. Thermal Configuration
The
Thermal Configuration
features the following submenu to configure the system’s
thermal parameters:

CPU Thermal
Configuration
Configures the CPU’s thermal parameters by the following setting:
Setting
Description
DTS SMM
Sets how to obtain the CPU temperature.
DTS means the on-die “Digital Thermal Sensor“, and
SMM means “System Management Mode“, a real-mode
environment with 32-bit data access which is activated
in response to an interrupt type or using the System
Management Interrupt (SMI) pin.
Select
Disabled
to have ACPI thermal management use
EC reported temperature values. (The default setting.)
Select
Enabled
to have ACPI thermal management use
DTS SMM mechanism to obtain CPU temperature values.
Select
Critical Temp Reporting (Out of Spec)
to have
ACPI management use EC reported temperature values
and have DTS SMM handle the out-of-spec.
Platform Thermal
Configuration
Configures the platform’s thermal parameters by the following settings:

at which the OS will shut off the system.
