CAU TION
Be fore drill ing holes in the hel met shell, en sure that the TPL as sem bly
and chin/nape strap as sem bly are prop erly fit ted and ad justed to the
aircrew mem ber’s head. (Fitting in struc tions are in para graph 2-2.)
Lo ca tion/align ment of the bay o net re ceiver as sem bly is crit i cal, since
the bay o net re ceiv ers are not ad just able.
1. Have the aircrew mem ber don the prop erly fit ted hel met.
2. Insert each ox y gen mask bay o net into a jaw re ceiver to the third lock ing po si tion.
The pro jec tions on the jaw re ceiver should be po si tioned to ward the tip of the
bay o net.
3. Re ferring to Fig ure 2-8, have the aircrew mem ber hold the prop erly ad justed ox y gen
mask against his/her face.
NOTE
En sure that the ox y gen mask straps
have equal ten sion.
En sure that the jaw re ceiv ers are
placed no closer than 1/2 inch
(12.7 mm) from the edge of the
hel met shell.
4. Hold each jaw re ceiver firmly against
the hel met, en sur ing that each off set
bay o net is flush with and par al lel to the
edgeroll. Use a lead pen cil to trace the
out line of each jaw re ceiver as sem bly
onto the hel met. Do not use marker or
grease pen cil.
