2. Re place chin/nape strap as sem bly as fol lows:
a. Lace the sin gle D-ring nape strap through the right-hand or left-hand (as worn)
hel met slot de pend ing on aircrew mem ber pref er ence.
NOTE
The hook strip at the top of the nape pad should face the in side of the
hel met shell.
b. Pass the sin gle D-ring nape strap through the nape pad from lower right to up per
left (if in stalled on right) or from lower left to up per right (if in stalled on left).
NOTE
A hook made from a coat hanger may make it eas ier to pull the straps
through the nape pad.
c. Lace the dou ble D-ring nape strap through the right-hand or left-hand (as worn)
hel met slot de pend ing on aircrew mem ber pref er ence.
d. Pass the dou ble D-ring nape strap
through the nape pad from lower right
to up per left (if in stalled on right) or
from lower left to up per right (if in -
stalled on left).
NOTE
Be fore in stall ing the nape strap
screw, ap ply RTV glue to the first
two threads of each screw.
e. In stall the screws, lock wash ers, flat
wash ers, and T-nuts (re moved in
Step 1f) to fas ten the nape straps to
the hel met.
f. If the clamp as sem blies were
re moved from the nape straps,
re in stall them.
g. In sert the snap end of the chin strap
through the sin gle D-ring and snap it
into place.
h. Lace the chin strap through the
dou ble D-ring.
i. Re in stall the TPL and the earcups.
j. Have aircrew mem ber don hel met;
check fit.
