Watchdog on/off
The system watchdog monitors low-level system communication between system software
and hardware. If communication is interrupted for a period of 20 minutes, the watchdog
process will shut down and restart the DVR.
Opening the MV4 Monitor program requires stopping low-level communication and
therefore automatically turns off the watchdog.

watchdog operation. To indicate the Watchdog is off, the front panel’s software LEDs
rapidly flash. There is no external indication when the watchdog is running.
When active, the watchdog communicates via COM 1. COM 1 data activity is indicated by
COM LED 1 on the DVR’s front panel.
LEDs and relays
You may test the software LEDs via the MV4 Monitor program. Check the appropriate box
for the LED to test and press send (
). The LED will light up momentarily and
subsequently extinguish.
You may also test the relays. Select the relay to activate and click
Send
(
page 76). Relay activation is generally audible, but no external display indicates relay
status.
