GPS
Your MobileView may be equipped with GPS technology. Systems ordered with this option
require a compatible GPS antenna to activate the feature. The GPS antenna connects to the
back box GPS connector (
on page 20). Since the GPS connector is small and
space is limited, you should connect the GPS antenna before making other connections.
Ensure the DVR storage allocation and usage settings for GPS data are set to one percent. If
the setting is not as expected, refer to
on page 54 for details on how to
modify the setting.
The GPS antenna is usually mounted on the roof of the vehicle on a flat surface directly
above the DVR. The length of antenna cable and other equipment on the vehicle roof dictate
the specific location.
To install the antenna, do the following:
1. Determine a suitable mounting location on the vehicle roof for the antenna.
2. Using the antenna as a template, measure the diameter of the mounting shaft and
drill a hole through the roof of the vehicle.
3. Route the antenna cable through the hole.
4. Place waterproof sealant around the bottom of the antenna and press the antenna
into place. This will be the permanent mounting location of the antenna.
5. From the interior of the vehicle, thread the antenna locking nut and washer over the
antenna cable and tighten the mounting shaft.
6. Route the antenna cable to the DVR assembly, through the rear wire hole and secure
to the GPS connector.
When GPS signal is present and locked, the DVR software status LED #3 will turn on.
