4.11 Unwind/ rewind brake
The unwind/ rewind brake is used when you
require a rewind tube to be undriven ( “free spinning” ) by
the rewind drive puck. The brake pad is for the unwind/
rewind brake. The pad is also used to protect the blades
when they are in the rest positions.
a) Remove unwind/ rewind brake and the brake
pad from the accessory pack.
b) Place the adheisve side of the large ring pad on
the unwind/ rewind brake. The brake pad will
overhang the brake slighlty.

c) Use a knife or razor to trim the excess brake
pad from the brake.

d) Save the center piece from the brake pad for use
later in Section 4.12 Slitter assemblies.
e) Remove the rewind tube.
f) Remove the O-Ring from the rewind drive puck.

g) Position the unwind/ rewind brake over the rewind
drive puck with the brake pad facing the side
frame.

h) Replace the rewind tube. The unwind/ rewind
brake keeps the rewind drive puck from making
contact with the rewind tube enabling the rewind
tube to turn in either direction regardless of motor
direction.
