Problem
Possible Reason
The Solution
The coffee flows out too
quickly.
The coffee powder is too
coarse.
Use coffee powder with a grind size suited for espresso
machines. See: >Tips for Best Results<.
There is too little coffee pow-
der in the filter basket.
Use the measuring spoon to measure the sufficient amount
of coffee powder. Use the Razor™ precision tool after
tamping to get the correct amount. See: >Trimming the
Dose<.
You applied too little pressu-
re when tamping the coffee
powder.
To press the coffee powder into the filter basket, apply a
pressure of 15-20kg via the provided tamper. See: >Tips
for Best Results<.
Coffee runs out around the
edge of the portafilter.
The portafilter is not inserted
in the group head correctly.
Ensure that the handle of the portafilter is rotated to the
right until it is facing in right angle to the front of the appli-
ance. See: >Preparing the Group Head<.
Particles of coffee powder are
on the filter basket rim.
Clean excess coffee powder from the rim of the filter bas-
ket before assembling the portafilter to the group head to
ensure a proper seal.
Too much coffee powder in
the filter basket.
Ensure to use the correct amount with the appropriate filter
basket. Use the Razor™ precision tool to get the correct
amount (see: >Trimming the Dose<).
The coffee powder is tamped
too firmly.
Apply the correct pressure (15-20kg) when tamping the
coffee powder. See: >Tips for Best Results<.
You have selected an
unsuited filter basket.
Ensure to use the correct amount with the appropriate filter
basket. Use the 1 CUP filter basket for 1 cup of coffee and
the 2 CUP filter basket for 2 cups of coffee. See: >Tips for
Best Results<.
The coffee only drips
from the portafilter spouts
(restricted flow).
Not enough water in the
water tank.
Fill the water tank. The filling level must be between
250ml (MIN) and 1800ml (MAX).
The coffee powder is too fine. Use coffee powder suited for espresso machines. See:
>Tips for Best Results<. Pre-ground coffee powder is label-
led accordingly.
Too much coffee in the filter
basket.
Ensure to use the correct amount with the appropriate filter
basket. Use the Razor™ precision tool to get the correct
amount (see: >Trimming the Dose<).
The water system within the
machine or the filter basket
are clogged.
De-scale the machine. Clean the filter basket. You may use
a needle or fine pin to open clogged holes in the filter bas-
ket mesh. See: >Care and Cleaning<.
