THOROUGH CLEANING
Important:
Do not leave any coffee powder in the filter basket after operation.
Residues of wet coffee ground easily go mouldy within the appliance causing an
unpleasant smell and taste.
1. Switch off the appliance (ON/OFF button gets dark), unplug and leave the
appliance cool down for at least 15 minutes.
2. Remove the carafe from the warming plate.
3. Then remove the water tank lid, filter cover, and brewing arm. The brewing arm
sticks in the silicone seal on top of the riser pipe of the water tank. Simply pull it
out upwards. You can remove it more easily, when turning the brewing arm to
and fro a little while pulling.
4. Turn the filter basket counter-clockwise to unlock it and remove the filter basket
from the filter support. Take out the filter bag and dispose of the filter bag and
coffee ground in domestic waste. Turn the drip speed control to the completely
open position (1.25).
5. Wipe the filter support with a soft wet cloth, removing any residues of coffee
powder, sticking to the filter support.
Do not press on the filter support to avoid
damage.
Wipe dry the filter support with a soft, dry cloth.
6. Wash the removable parts (water tank lid, brewing arm, filter basket and filter
cover, carafe, and carafe lid) using a soft brush and hot dishwater. Rinse tho-
roughly with clear, hot water. Ensure to rinse the overflow opening in the filter
basket thoroughly, too. Thereafter wipe dry all parts and leave dry naturally.
7. Empty any residues of water from the water system. For this, grasp the appliance
at both sides at the base and turn the appliance upside down over a sink.
8. Pour approx. 1/2 litre of clear tap water into the water tank. Then repeat step
7 to flush any free particles of lime from the water system. This way, you avoid
excessive build-up of scale within the water system and reduce the need of des-
caling.
9. Remove any residues of splashes from the exterior of the housing, base, and war-
ming plate using a soft, damp cloth. Polish with a soft, dry cloth.
10. After cleaning, we recommend to reassemble the appliance completely to protect
the parts from dust and loss (see: "Assembling the Appliance“).
