Because of the natural variations in water hardness and usage of the machine, we
can only give some guidelines for the frequency of descaling the machine.
Please, find the frequency of descaling recommended as a rule of thumb in the fol-
lowing table:

The complete descaling cycle will take approx. 2 ,5 hours.
1. Empty and clean the coffee machine according to the instructions above (see:
“Thorough Cleaning”).
2. Prepare approx. 1.25 litres of the descaling solution according to the instructions
given on the package. Fill the descaling solution into the water tank up to the
maximum filling level (1.25). Leave the descaling solution within the appliance
for approx. 1 hour.
3. Without filter bag and coffee powder, prepare the appliance for operation (see:
“Preparing the Appliance for Operation”). Connect the appliance to the mains
power supply. Ensure that the drip speed control is completely open (position
1.25).
4. Hold the ON/OFF button pressed for 3 seconds, until the descaling icon
is
flashing on the LCD display. Then press the ON/OFF button again to start the
descaling cycle. The descaling icon will be shown continuously and the ON/
OFF button will be illuminated. Ensure good ventilation.
5. Wait until the water tank is completely empty. Then switch OFF the appliance.
6. Leave the descaling solution cool down in the carafe for approx. 15 minutes.
Then pour the contents of the carafe back into the water tank and wait another
15 minutes.
7. Thereafter, start a normal brewing cycle but without filter bag and coffee powder
(press the ON/OFF button shortly). Wait until the water tank is completely empty
again.
8. Press the ON/OFF button to switch off the appliance and leave the appliance
cool down for approx. 15 minutes.
9. Remove all removable parts (see: “Thorough Cleaning”). Discard the descaling
