6.5 Installing Expansion Cards
This section explains the types of expansion cards, notes and installation
procedures.
6.5.1 Installation Location of Expansion Cards
The server has seven PCI-Express slots to accommodate up to seven expansion cards.
• For non hot-pluggable PCI slots, turn off the server, all peripheral devices, and
any other connected devices before installing or removing expansion cards.
Also unplug all power cables from the outlet.
Failure to do so can cause electric shock.
• Install our genuine expansion cards only.
Failure to do so may cause a device failure, fire, or electric shock.
• Expansion cards are susceptible to static electricity. Place them on conductive
pads or keep them in the packages as long as they are not necessary.
• The circuit boards and soldered parts of internal options are exposed. They
can be damaged by static electricity. Before handling them, first touch a metal
part of the chassis to discharge static electricity.
• Do not touch the circuitry on boards or soldered parts. Hold the metallic areas
or the edges of the circuit boards.
