5-4. Inspecting Resolution
5-4-1. Settings and Photography for Inspecting Resolution
<Step 1>
Refer to the diagram at right for settings for inspect-
ing resolution, and prepare the camera and high-res-
olution chart.
Illuminate the high-resolution chart with the light
source. Ensure that the luminance of the high-reso-
lution chart is between 9.0EV and 11.5EV.
<Step 2>
Make the following preparations.
(1) Insert a formatted SSFDC of approximately 32Mbyte
in the camera.
(2) Insert the power supply in the camera (battery may
also be used).
(3) Set to the Camera mode, and switch power ON.
(4) Mount the camera on a tripod, and place it squarely
in front of the high-resolution chart (ie set horizontal
and vertical at 90º).
(5) Place the high-resolution chart over the gray chart at
a distance of 1200±5mm from the front face of the
camera lens.
<Step 3>
Change the following parts of the default settings for
the photography mode.
(1) Set to AUTO mode.
(2) Set to 6M Fine mode.
(3) Set to Flash OFF mode.
(4) Set zoom to maximum Wide.
<Step 4>
After setting in STEP1, 2, and 3, align
the center of
the LCD monitor and the center of the high-resolu-
tion chart (see Fig.J-1)
, and press the shutter button
while preventing camera shake.

is recorded.
* When all photography is complete, enlarge the
[Max-
imum Wide Center Resolution Check Image (Fig.J-
(2))]
portion in Photoshop etc, and check whether the
resolution requirements are satisfied.

<Step 5>
When the photography in STEP4 is complete, photo-
graph the Maximum Wide Peripheral Resolution
Check Image.
Make the following preparations.
(1) Camera position as in STEP4.
(2) While checking the high-resolution chart in the view-
finder, set to a square.
This example shows it set at bottom-right. See Fig.K
for the set position.
(note)
Move only the high-resolution chart. Do not move
the camera under any circumstances.
<Step 6>
When preparations in STEP5 are complete, press the
shutter button while preventing camera shake.

is recorded.
