Never add relays, starters, timers, transformers, etc. in-
side an electronic control panel without fi rst con tact ing
the man u fac tur er. Contact arcing and EMI emitted from
these de vic es can interfere with the elec tron ics. Relays and
tim ers are rou tine ly added to electronic control panels by the
man u fac tur er, but the man u fac tur er knows the ac cept able
device types and proper placement in the panel that will
keep in ter fer ence to a minimum. If you need to add these
devices contact the man u fac tur er for the proper de vice types
and placement.
Never run refrigerant tubing inside an electronic con trol
pan el. If the refrigerant is ammonia, a leak will to tal ly de stroy
the electronics.
If the electronic control panel has a starter built into the
same panel, be sure to run the higher voltage wires where
in di cat ed by the manufacturer. EMI from the wires can
in ter fere with the electronics if run too close to the cir cuit ry.
Never daisy-chain or parallel-connect power or ground
wires to electronic con trol panels. Each elec tron ic con trol
panel must have its own supply wires back to the pow er
source. Multiple electronic control panels on the same pow er
wires create current surges in the supply wires which can
cause controller mal func tions. Daisy-chaining ground wires
al lows ground loop currents to fl ow between elec tron ic con trol
pan els which also causes malfunctions. (Figure 47)
It is very important to read the installation in struc tions
thor ough ly before beginning the project. Make sure you
have draw ings and in struc tions with your equip ment. If not,
call the man u fac tur er and have them send you the prop er
in struc tions. Every manufacturer of electronic equipment
should have a knowl edge able staff, willing to answer your
ques tions or fax ad di tion al information. Following correct
wir ing pro ce dures will ensure proper installation of your
elec tron ic equip ment.
