Standard/3D View
Click this button to toggle between standard view mode and 3D view mode. By default, both of these modes
map the color of sonar targets to depth, where blue is deep and yellow is shallow. The user can define these
values with the Color Bar. Additionally, for advanced applications, the color map can be changed so that
color indicates the strength of the received signals from a particular target. In this mode, white copper is
"loud" and dark brown is "quiet".
Activate Alarm
When depressed, the alarm is active, and will be triggered by objects in the alarm volume.
Depth/Signal Level Color Map
This button toggles between color mapped to signal level in decibels and color mapped to depth. Signal level
is colored with a color map of varying copper hues. Dark brown indicates a quiet signal and a light, almost
white copper indicates a loud signal based on the user's definition of "quiet" and "loud". All signal levels
quieter than the "quiet" are dark brown and all signal levels louder than the "loud" setting are white copper.
Signal levels in between are colored with a smooth array of hues between the dark and light copper colors.
Depth is colored with a multi-color map where blue indicates deep and yellow indicates shallow based on
the user's definition of "shallow" and "deep". All depths deeper than the "deep" setting are blue and all depth
shallower than the "shallow" setting are yellow. Depths in between are colored with a smoothly changing
array of colors from blue to green to orange to yellow.
Note
Targets where depth cannot be accurately determined (i.e. beyond the sonar's water depth
limit) are always drawn with the signal level color map. This is true even if the color map is set
to depth. In this case, targets within the sonar's bottom mapping range and the sea floor will be
displayed with their colors indicating depth (blue to yellow) while longer range targets will be
displayed with their colors indicating signal level (dark brown to light copper).
When switching between color maps, the color scale will be changed to the user's last color extent values
for the color map currently being shown. The user can change the scale's extents by clicking on the extent
values. A number pad will then pop up allowing for mouse or keyboard specification of a new value. The
new settings will be active on the next ping.
With color mapped to depth, the depth indicated is either "Depth Below Surface" or "Depth Below Keel"
as noted by a label in the bottom left corner of the 3D sonar display. With color mapped to Signal Level,
the numbers correspond to the same scale as the Squelch settings as described in "3D Sonar Processing
Options".
5.7. Mouse Controls
Mouse Drag Left Button (Any Direction in 3D View)
Left dragging has two different behaviors, depending on where the user starts dragging the mouse.
When positioned at the end of the profile selector, a large double sided arrow will appear. In this case, left
dragging will change the angle of the profile selector.
When in 3D mode and not over the end of the profile selector, left click dragging the mouse will rotate the
3D display volume.
