chart overlay seem less correct than the raw NMEA values displayed in the conning view, please let us
know so we can fix it. If that happens, unchecking this box will allow you to continue using SonaSoft™ with
raw heading and position values until the time when we can resolve any issues you may have.
Ship Sensor Parameters
Vessel characteristics, such as length, beam and draft, along with GPS sensor and FarSounder™ sonar
position should be specified using the Sensor Layout Configurator tool, which can be accessed using the
"Set ship parameters" button in the "System settings dialog" (see Figure 35, “System Settings dialog box”.
An example of the Sensor Layout Configurator dialog is given by Figure 36, “Sensor Layout Configurator”.
Ship parameters can be entered into the Sensor Layout Configurator in either feet or meters. The preferred
unit of measurement should be selected from the dropdown menu in the dialog. Then the remaining ship
parameters, including the GPS sensor position and the FarSounder™Sonar position should be entered
before clicking the update button.

4.4. Chart Setup
The SonaSoft™ Chart Display offers chart plotting capabilities with a real-time overlay of all in-water targets.
The display supports Profe and ENC databases from C-MAP. This display capability is built into the
base SonaSoft™ product. However, users must purchase a C-MAP eToken and chart license separately
in order to load chart data.
Though the display is automatically part of SonaSoft™, chart databases and eToken drivers must be
installed on each computer where chart data will be used. The easiest way to do this is to run the SonaSoft™
installer and select the "Run C-MAP Installer Wizard" when prompted. This wizard will install the eToken
driver and launch the C-MAP Chart Manager. The C-MAP Chart Manager is used to load and register C-
MAP chart data. Please follow the C-MAP Chart Manager documentation for assistance in running this tool.
Note
A keyboard is not needed when using the charts as part of the standard operation of the
software. However, a keyboard is needed for chart installation and license registration. If no
physical keyboard is available, the Windows on-screen keyboard can be used.
After the initial installation, the C-MAP Chart Manager tool can be launched directly from the Configuration
Manager menu within SonaSoft™.
