4.3. System Settings Options
Overview
There are a number of system settings inside SonaSoft™. These settings are general configuration options
which are used throughout the software. These settings are found under the Configuration Manager's
System Settings tab.

System Depth Units
The units selected from this drop down box are used for depth measurements throughout various displays
and setting controls within SonaSoft™. The following units are supported: feet, meters, fathoms.
System Range Units
The units selected from this drop down box are used for range measurements throughout various displays
and setting controls within SonaSoft™. The following units are supported: feet, yards, meters, kilometers,
miles (statute), miles (nautical), cables.
System Speed Units
The units selected from this drop down box are used for speed measurements throughout various displays
and setting controls within SonaSoft™. The following units are supported: knots, meters per second,
kilometers per hour, miles per hour (statute).
3D Reference
Using these radio buttons, the user can set the depth reference for the Chart Display and 3D Sonar Display
to be relative to the vessel's keel or relative to the water's surface. Note that the depth displayed in the Nav
Info Viewer's depth reference is set by the external NMEA sensor's settings.
Filter Heading and Position
By default, SonaSoft™ uses speed over ground, course over ground, and rate of turn information to filter
heading and position data to higher levels of accuracy for its processing. Filtered data is also required to
perform True Target Motion™ in the 3D Display. If the filtered heading and position of your vessel in your
