The bag dispense opening is where users will take an ice bag. The customer does not have to
press a button to dispense an ice bag. By default, the bag door is locked, but when money is
inserted into the machine or when a credit card is registered, then the bag door unlocks. Once
the transaction is completed, the bag door locks itself.
Payment Systems
Paying for vends with bills/coins is similar to traditional vending machines.
The machines are configured at the factory to accept one country’s currency. The currency
accepted can only be changed by physically swapping the coin manager and the bill acceptor.
If changed, you must also contact Everest so that some setup changes can be made on
Akoona.net
Any combination of coins/bills can be inserted into the machine in any order. Inserting money
increases the balance available on the LCD screen. All change is dispensed using coins. There
is an automatic watchdog that will not accept coins/notes which cannot be paid back in change,
so it is 100% certain that users will always receive complete and exact change every time. All
money put into the machine while in cash payment mode is always fully available for payback
as change. There are no restrictions. No purchase is required. Money can be inserted and
immediately received as change. Yes, that means the machine can potentially be used as a
change machine because you can insert a bill, vend nothing, and immediately get change in
coins, however, the largest denomination coins are always have the priority for change
disbursement so if you insert a $1.00 bill, you will receive a $1.00 coin as change. If you
reinsert that $1.00 coin then you will still receive a $1.00 coin as change. If a cash/coin
transaction is idle for more than a set amount of time (see “LCD timeout”) then any balance
remaining on the screen is cleared to zero and is lost.
Inserting Coins -
The denominations of coins that can be accepted should always be
prominently displayed on the machine. All coin managers are configured at the factory to accept
all possible coin types based upon the model of coin manger and the destination country. If
there are available security settings on the coin manger, then they are set to lowest security for
maximum acceptance rate.
Inserted coins either jam or are validated:
● If coins jam, then there is nothing the user can do except to try pressing the coin return
button and hope that the system can clear the jam. Otherwise, the coin manager will be
disabled until a maintenance technician can clear the jam. The prevalence of jams is
directly related to the diligence and routine of periodic maintenance on the coin manger.
The more you clean it, the less it will jam (see periodic maintenance section).
● If coins do not jam then they are validated and either pass or fail.
○ If they fail then they are dropped directly to the return coin cup, are not added to
the LCD balance.
