OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES
Preparing a Machine For a Move
Machines can be moved. Most of the procedure for replacing them is found in the MACHINE
INSTALLATION section. To prepare to move a machine you must:
● Purge the Scotsman sump so that the water does not slosh around and go all over the
inside of the machine during transport. The directions to purge water from the Scotsman
are printed on the control panel of the Scotsman. You turn the unit OFF, hold the clean
button in for 3+ seconds and the unit pumps water for 20 seconds. The C1448 and
C1848 size units have larger sumps so it takes two of the pump cycles to purge the
water completely.
● Strap the Scotsman to the frame with shipping straps so that it does not move during
transport. The Scotsman is held in place by small bolts during operation but these bolts
will not hold the unit securely during transport.
● Disconnect all utilities
● Lift the unit and remove the drain plate and/or sump box so they are not damaged during
transport and placement.
Winterizing a Machine
Winterizing is highly recommended by Everest. Any damage caused by freezing temperatures
are not covered under the Everest warranty and also are not covered under the Scotsman
warranty. Hard freezes or even longer periods of temperatures only slightly below freezing will
very likely cause major damage to the machine! If you decide to attempt winterization then you
should:
● Remove all Everpure filters and canisters.
●
Open wash down hose valve and remove washdown sprayer head. This will drain the
washdown hose.
●
Remove compression nut at incoming water bulkhead fitting inside the machine. This will
clear the feed line to the water manifold.
●
Remove compression nut from fitting on back of water manifold feeding Scotsman. This
will drain the Scotsman line.
●
Follow the Scotsman winterization procedure by cleaning the unit and then purging all
water from the cuber system. The instructions for purging water are on the control panel
of the Scotsman. Winterization procedure is in the Scotsman Technical Service Manual.
●
Remove compression nut from water solenoid
●
Remove compression nut from UV canister. This will then drain the line feeding UV
canister.
