APPENDIX C
The application running on both displays and the computer can be updated from a standard USB flash
drive. You will receive the files from a qualified Etnyre Service technician or engineer.
For the computer and touchscreen to communicate with each other, their program version numbers will
always match! These are both shown at the bottom of the touchscreen Information page.
When updating both the touchscreen and computer to a new version, it is always recommended to update
at least one touchscreen, preferably both, before updating the computer!
For display program updates:
1. On the touchscreen you wish to update, navigate to Setup Page 3.
2. Hold the Update Display button for 5 seconds.
a. This puts the display into Recovery Mode which is required for USB updates.
b. Do not change any settings in the Setup menu.
3. Connect your flash drive to the USB port.
a. Make sure it has the correct display application. The front touchscreen is different from the
rear touchscreen.
b. The file will be named with the new program version that will be on the machine.
4. If only one application is on the flash drive, the update will begin automatically. If both front and
rear applications are on the flash drive, you will have to select the current .udp file by
Update from USB in Recovery Mode.
5. Wait until completion and cycle power. The display should start with the new program.
For computer program updates:
1. Navigate to the Computer Updates screen by touching the Computer Updates button in Setup Page 3.
a. If the touchscreen program version does not match the computer program version, the
touchscreen will not boot past its Splash Screen after turning on. The Computer Updates
screen can be access after the Splash Screen times out three seconds after noticing no
communication to the computer.
2. Use the Update Version control to set the computer version you wish to update to. The update file
will be named with the version number.
a. If the touchscreen and computer are communicating and have the same version
number, updating the computer to a different version will lose communication to the
touchscreens! The touchscreen version should be updated by entering Recovery Mode
after the next power cycle.
3. Insert the flash drive to either the front or reach touchscreen USB port. The flash drive should have
the update file (.upd extension) name that matches the Update Version number.
4. If the update file is found, hold the START UDPATE button for three (3) seconds.
5. Read the displayed warning message. Press HOLD TO CONFIRM for five seconds to start the
update process.
6. The rest of the update will happen automatically. The current update step will be displayed.
7. When finished, the computer will not be running until after a power cycle.
