Integrity check of shielding collars
This feature allows the user to perform a periodic inspection of the
integrity of shielding collars
To perform the check follow these steps:
1
Fix the front and rear shielding collars to the gantry.
2
Close the rear shielding collar completely on itself.
3
Insert the coil in the gantry.
4
Insert the 115 mm cylindrical homogeneus phantom in the coil 1.
5
Close the front shielding collar completely on itself.
6
Click on the appropriate command (see User Interface Manual).
7
A dialog box is displayed informing the user about the result of the
inspection (see User Interface Manual).
If the result of the inspection is negative, we recommend to replace the
shielding collars.
Description of the Shielding straps
To improve electrical contact between the patient's skin and the shielding
straps, special aluminum straps are used to surround the patient's limb in
the specific contact zone.
These are available in two sizes: one large strap to surround the thigh and
a smaller version suited to the calf and arm.
For examinations of the knee, both straps are used as the limb also
protrudes from the rear section of the gantry; for other examinations only
one strap is normally required.
The straps supplied are multi-purpose, i.e. can be used as many times as
required until the surface is worn, in which case replacement is necessary.

Consult chapters 11 to 16 of this document for a complete description
of the patient positioning protocols for each type of examination.
N o t e
If no error message indicating the presence of interference and/or
noise upon acquisition is displayed and if the acquired scout images
are free of interference and/or noise, the examination can be
performed. Otherwise ensure correct positioning of the covers and
shielding straps and then repeat the Scout sequence.
