current date from the internal real-time clock. Item production date can be programmed in PLU data, and it will be
automatically used to calculate item expiration date.
It is possible to enter a new production date for an item, if it is undefined or if it needs to be modified. Press a
corresponding quick access key (contact the system administrator) – in the second line of the display the scale will
return the current item production date or dashes “--.--.--”, if the production date is undefined as in
Illustration 21
below:
To enter a new item production date, use the numeric keys .. . Upon pressing a numeric key, the digit
being edited will be highlighted by the blinking cursor. To edit the next digit, press the key . To complete setting a
new item production date value, press the key . If the scale emits a long beep, the new item production date value
is invalid (for example, the month value is greater than “12”). To quit Item Production Date Program Mode without
saving the changes, press the key .
To clear the defined earlier item production date, press the key when in Item Production Date Program
Mode. The scale will display dashes instead of the production date value. Confirm the clearing of the item production
date with the key . The scale will then use the current date from internal real-time clock as the item production
date.
If the production date is programmed in the PLU data of an item, it will be automatically selected when this
item is called up, and the production date entered manually earlier will be discarded. If there is no production date
programmed in the PLU data of an item, the production date entered manually before will be valid for that item.
Deselecting an item will discard item production date regardless of how it was set – manually or automatically by
selected an item.
2.9.9 Arbitrary Bar Code
Often retailers need to relabel products arrived from vendors, or to print a bar code with a structure different
from that programmed in the scale. Arbitrary bar code printing function is designed for these tasks. An arbitrary bar
code can be set only when an item is selected (the display tag
PLU is on). Press a corresponding quick access key
(contact the system administrator) – in the second line of the display the scale will indicate an invitation to input the
first 12 digits of the bar code to be printed, as in
Illustration 22 below:
