Installing and Using the RAID Manager for
Windows NT
This chapter contains instructions for installing the RAID Manager software, configuring the system, and creat-
ing an initial configuration. This chapter also contains sheets for recording your configuration.
NOTE
The procedures in this chapter assume that the write-back cache
module batteries have been fully recharged, as described in
Chapter 1 of this guide. If you have not yet recharged your write-
back cache batteries, you should do so at this time.
3.1
RAID Manager for Windows NT
The RAID Manager for Windows NT is a graphical user interface that facilitates configuring
and monitoring your RAID 310 subsystem.
The manager lets you:
•
Create single-disk units, RAID 0 (Stripesets), RAID 1 (Mirrorsets), RAID 0+1, and
RAID 5/3 (RAIDsets), and Spares.
•
Examine and modify LUN parameters
•
Examine and modify controller parameters
•
Monitor the addition and removal of disk drives from the array
•
Identify hot-spare drives that the system can use for automatic LUN reconstruction

Overview: Installing and Using the RAID Manager for Windows NT
The steps required to Install and run the RAID Manager for Windows NT include the follow-
ing:
•
Install the RAID Manager software on your host NT computer system or on a different
Windows NT system (which can be in a remote location).
•
Set the communications parameters required by the maintenance port on the HSZ20
controller.
•
Identify the controller as Model HSZ20.
•
Set up your initial RAID configuration using the RAID Manager.
