OPERATION CHECKLIST BEFORE A TASK
Be sure that batteries are fully charged.
Make sure the competition-specific pages (Pg01 to Pg06) are active (see section 3.3)
Ensure the IFLY parameter (MAIN SETUP \ n. 38) is set to CMP = automatically switches between the 6
competition pages (see section 3.2.3)
Verify that parameter A1AL (MAIN SETUP \ n. 40) is set correctly = max. A1 altitude (see section 4.1.4)
Ensure the correct setting of parameter DCAL (MAIN SETUP \ n. 42) = FAI Sphere / WGS84: mathematical
model of the earth used by the distance calculator (see section 6.4)
Make sure parameter DTOL is set correctly (MAIN SETUP \ n. 43) = x.x % : tolerance percentage used by the
distance calculator (see section 6.5)
Download the waypoints from the competition’s official web site or get them from the scorekeeper.
Upload them to the Digifly Air using AirTools via USB cable (PC, Mac) , GPSDump via USB cable (PC, Mac,
Android Smartphone) , GPSDump via Bluetooth (Android Smartphone) or with another Digifly AIR using a
microSD memory card and the microSD manager
Edit the route accordingly to the information on the taskboard:
o
Insert the cylinders’ radii
o
Set the type of waypoint correctly in the “Type” field, remember to set the Start waypoint to "SSS" (Start
of Speed Section – see paragraph 9.5).
o
Specify whether the waypoint has an Exit or an Entry cylinder around it using the field “In/Out”: "IN"
(cross the line as you enter the cylinder) or "OUT" (cross the line as you exit the cylinder).
o
Insert the start time correctly
o
For multiple start gates (SG), insert the SG interval and Number of SG.
o
In the route page verify that the total distance corresponds (“Tot dst m”), it is calculated from the center
of the first waypoint to the center of the last waypoint along the standard route (not optimized).
Activate the route : LONG PRESS the
key and confirm.
Important: when you activate the route, a window with the summary of the most important settings of your route
will pop up to allow for a settings check before the competition starts:
o
Date and local time : check the correct setting of UTCO = time zone + summer or winter time
o
IFLY = OFF / CMP / XC : current setting of the automatic page switcher “Intellifly”
o
DTOL = x.x % : tolerance percentage used by the distance calculator
o
DCAL = FAI Sphere / WGS84 : mathematical model of the earth used by the distance calculator
Set the barometric A1 Altimeter, this is important as it is also used by the glide computer.
Before takeoff, turn your instrument on, with enough time to allow a correct GPS position to be acquired.
After the GPS position has been acquired, check that the time is correct. If necessary, change the time zone
setting, otherwise the start time will be wrong. Parameter: MAIN SETUP \ n.7 UTCO
