Maintenance CNG installation
Leak test: control of the CNG components and circuit can be effected by means
of a gas detection meter, leakage spray or by soapy water. Recommended
recheck is necessary: see also
“10 CNG tanks” on page 46 .
• Wait for a minimum of 1 hour.
• Check if there is a pressure drop in the system.
• If the pressure has not dropped, then the system is tight.
• If the pressure is decreased, use a gas detection meter to detect the leak.
Gas leak detection meter; use the meter at a visual control. Always check the
meter and measuring head of proper operation and possible pollution. Set
the meter correctly (methane). The measuring head must be held above the
pipes/conduits and components (natural gas is lighter than air). Start with the
accurate setting. In case of detection switch to the rougher setting to locate
the leak more precisely. Move the measuring head over the system at a rate of
3 to 5 cm per second. Just give the meter time to absorb the natural gas. Take
correct decisions from the signals given by the meter (operating instructions for
detection meter use).
Don’t forget: closed areas of the system must first be ventilated
(protection cap opened). Consider the filling nipple and its associated
cover. There may still be residual natural gas present from refueling.
Do not use the meter in the vicinity of power live
parts. Turn off the high pressure washer.
