Setting the Administrator Password
1. Click the
Password
tab at the top of the window.
The security of your SonicWALL is determined by your
Administrator Password
. To
set the password, enter the old password in the
Old Password
field, and the new
password in the
New Password
field. Type the new password again in the
Confirm
New Password
field and click
Update
. Once the SonicWALL has been updated, a
message confirming the update is displayed at the bottom of the browser window.
Note
: When setting the password for the first time, remember that the SonicWALL's
default password is “password”.
If the password is not entered exactly the same in both
New Password
fields, the
operation fails. This is done to prevent mistyping a password and getting accidentally
locked out of the SonicWALL
.
Warning
: The password cannot be recovered if it is lost or forgotten. If the password
is lost, it is necessary to reset the SonicWALL to its factory default state. Go to
Appendix C for instructions.
Setting the Administrator Inactivity Timeout
The
Administrator Inactivity Timeout
setting allows you to extend the period of
inactivity that may elapse before you are automatically logged out of the Web
Management Interface. The SonicWALL is preconfigured to logout the administrator
after 5 minutes of inactivity.
