Overview
Here are a few helpful guidelines for installing the SonicWALL appliance.
•
The
WAN
Ethernet port should be connected to the Internet router or modem.
•
The
LAN
Ethernet port should be connected to a network hub or switch on the
internal, protected network.
•
The
DMZ
Ethernet port, included with the SonicWALL GX250 and GX650, should
be connected to publicly accessible servers, such as Web and Mail servers.
•
A crossover cable should be used when connecting the SonicWALL directly to an-
other machine or router.
•
A standard Ethernet cable should be used when connecting the SonicWALL to a
network hub, switch, or modem.
•
If using the fiber optics network interface card, remove the plug from the network
card to access the network ports on the front of the GX.
Note
: During the installation, access to the Internet is interrupted. You can minimize
this interruption by pre-configuring the SonicWALL before you install it.
