Enabling Persistent Sessions
For HTTP and HTTPS clusters that support L7 load balancing, you can use cookies to
maintain a persistent session between a client and a particular server for the duration of
the session. For generic TCP and UDP clusters that support L4 load balancing, you can use
IP-Address based sticky connections to maintain persistent sessions.
Enabling Cookie-Based Persistence
When cookie-based persistence is used for HTTP and HTTPS clusters, Equalizer “stuffs” a
cookie into the server’s response header on its way back to the client. This cookie uniquely
identifies the server to which the client was connected and is included in subsequent
requests from the client to the same cluster. Equalizer can use the information in the cookie
to route the requests back to the same server. If the server is unavailable, a different server
is selected automatically.
To configure cookie-based persistence for an L7 cluster:
1.
Log into the Equalizer Administration interface with edit access.
2.
In the left frame, click the name of the cluster you want to configure. The Cluster
Parameters are displayed in the right frame.
3.
Select Change Cluster Parameters from the local menu in the Cluster Parameters
frame. The Change Cluster dialog is displayed in the right frame.
